Companion Tours

We have arranged special tours for companions of workshop attendees who wish to get out of the hotel and experience more of the Reno/Lake Tahoe area.

California Wine Country
Monday, July 26th, 0900 to 1700 hours

From the Silver Legacy you will enjoy a picturesque two-hour drive to Apple Hill, California with narration by our professional tour guide. Apple Hill is an officially-established ranch-marketing program, only the second one in the state. This program was developed to encourage the farmers of the area to work together to create not only a productive apple business, but also an attractive destination for visitors. The various farmers not only tend to their orchards and open them to the public, but they have also established numerous festivals and events, created unique small businesses such as gift shops (some selling items made from organically-grown products), spas, a brewery, several wineries, bake shops, and gardens. Some of these farmers and merchants are descendents of the early pioneers who came to the area to farm in the rich soil of El Dorado County.

Our tour guide will orient you to Apple Hill and you will visit at least two wineries, based upon availability, and tour one of the apple orchards. You will also have time to visit some of the unique shops, and be provided with a delicious box lunch.

Tahoe/Sand Harbour
Thursday, July 29th, 0900 to 1700 hours

This guided tour to Lake Tahoe takes you to one of the most spectacular natural wonders in the world. This pristine body of water is situated in a basin-like valley and surrounded by the magnificent Sierra Nevada Mountains. Your knowledgeable tour guide will supply you with numerous fascinating facts about the natural and cultural history of the area as you tour.

You will enjoy lunch (included) at one of the beautifully-situated patio restaurants at the lake's edge on the North Shore. Here, you will have the opportunity to relax and further enjoy the beautiful views of this area while you dine. Following lunch, you will journey to the East Shore, where you will have time to enjoy the crystal-clear waters along the shoreline of Sand Harbor State Park and Beach. We suggest you bring a towel, swim wear and beach shoes.
