General Information

Airport Transportation

Milwaukee, Detroit, Minneapolis and Chicago are all international airports that service Madison. If you choose to terminate your air flight in Chicago, there is regular bus service from the airport to Madison. http://www.vangalderbus.com Milwaukee also has regular bus service to Madison through Badger Bus Company. http://www.badgerbus.com

Hotel Shuttle courtesy phones are located adjacent to the baggage area at the Dane County Regional Airport. Taxis also can be found outside the baggage area. Fares to downtown Madison and the University campus average around $15.00 one way. At peak arrival times on July 26, 2003, buses will be available and will drop off at all housing options. Conference Shuttle

Conference Shuttles will run circuitously between lodging sites and Monona Terrace throughout the conference for the first couple hours in the morning, at the end of the afternoon sessions, and after all evening events. Shuttle Schedules will be provided with on-site Registration materials.

Climate

Summers in the Madison area are typically pleasant, with only occasional periods of uncomfortable heat or humidity. The average daytime July temperature is generally around 80 degrees, with nighttime temperatures in the 70’s.

Restaurants and Shopping

The downtown area has many restaurants from casual sandwich shops to elegant restaurants. Reservations are recommended for most restaurants. State Street, a pedestrian mall that runs from the Capitol to the University, is a popular walking shopping excursion. Major credit cards are widely accepted.

Parking

Parking is available directly from the lodging site. Please inquire when you make your reservation.

Dormitory Overnight Parking Information

If you are lodging in a University dormitory and driving, overnight parking permits must be obtained in advance. To request overnight dorm parking on campus, go to the University of Wisconsin Transportation Services web site and follow the instructions indicated below. The sooner applications are received, the closer parking will be to the conference dormitory.
