Optional Tours

 

All tours will take place on Tuesday afternoon and evening, July 29th. Air conditioned buses will depart at appointed times from the 4th Floor entrance of Monona Terrace, the conference site. If sufficient interest in any tour is not generated, the tour will be cancelled and full refunds provided. Advance Registration is required for tour participation. Additional tour agenda information will be posted on the conference website at a later date.

T1 Spring Green - Taliesin

Taliesin, described as Frank Lloyd Wright’s autobiography in wood and stone, is located in the rolling hills surrounding Spring Green, Wisconsin, 40 miles west of Madison. This two-hour tour features an intimate look at the famous architect’s private residence, filled with his furnishings and art collections. Includes air-conditioned coach transportation and admission. ($60/person)

T2 International Crane Foundation

The International Crane Foundation, located near Baraboo, Wisconsin, is the only place in the world where all fifteen crane species—including whooping cranes, America’s tallest birds—can be observed in a natural setting. T3 Canoe the Wisconsin River

The canoeing is easy as paddlers flow downstream surrounded by some of Wisconsin’s most beautiful scenery. Sand bars and islands along the way provide the perfect setting to picnic and enjoy box lunches and beverages included in the tour. Life jackets are provided. Includes air-conditioned coach transportation, canoes and paddles. ($45/person)

T4 Circus World Museum

Circus World Museum is located at the site of the original Ringling Brothers Circus winter headquarters near Baraboo, Wisconsin. In addition to the largest display of circus memorabilia in the world, this National Historic Landmark also provides circus demonstrations and performances for the young and young at heart. Includes air-conditioned coach transportation and admission. ($40/person)

T5 Noah’s Ark Water Park

America’s largest waterpark, located on 70 acres, boasts more than 60 water-based slides and rides, including some found no where else in the country. Noah’s Ark is located outside of Wisconsin Dells, an hour’s drive from Madison. Includes air-conditioned coach transportation and admission. ($45/person)

T6 Evening Dinner Boat Cruise

A gourmet buffet dinner is served on-board the Betty Lou Motor Yacht, while cruising along 22 miles of beautiful Lake Mendota shoreline. Views of Madison’s lovely skyline, from the best seat in town, include the State Capitol, Governor’s Mansion, and the University of Wisconsin campus. T7 Mineral Point

The charming town of Mineral Point--where Wisconsin began--is the first Wisconsin city to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places. T8 Madison Golf Outing

The University of Wisconsin’s University Ridge Golf Course has been ranked one of the top 10 courses in the state of Wisconsin for 10 consecutive years. The 225-acre course offers a spectacular view of rolling terrain, sprawling meadows, natural ponds and prairie, and was designed to follow the natural contours of the land, while overlooking the city of Madison below.
